Richmond High Support Unit offers 2 classes for children with mild disabilities and 3 classes for students with moderate disabilities. Individual Learning Plans are established for each student which encompass a wide range of subjects including mainstream, woodwork, cooking, art etc. Students are partially integrated into subject choice in Year 8 and fully integrated if the need arises. Special Programs include: a Travel Training/Shopping Skills Program to develop independent living skills and Work Experience ranging from supported enclave sites (where there are 5 students and 1 teacher) and a variety of work experience locations to independent work experience placements in the community. Students participate in a wide range of mainstream activities e.g. sport, excursions. In Years 11 and 12 students are able to participate in a TAFE course of their choice. On completion of their studies, students receive a Life Skills School Certificate or Life Skills Higher School. When leaving school, students are linked with supportive employment agencies who find students positions if the school has not already done so. Riverstone High School offers 5 classes for students with a mild or moderate disability aged between 12 and 16 years (Years 7-10). Individual learning plans are developed for each student and programs are set from these goals. Students have the opportunity to be mainstreamed. The Support Unit runs extensive work experience and life-skills programs. Students study for a Life-Skills School Certificate at the Riverstone campus and can proceed to the Senior College at Quakers Hill to undertake the Life-Skills Higher School Certificate.
